It snowed. I took the bus to work, not trusting the traitorous, icy sidewalks and winds blowing in from Sweden. Work over, my colleague decided he wanted to walk back. In the freaking snow. It was still snowing and the wind was heavy. The forecast was for a snow storm. But the guy wanted to walk. So walk, we did. The cold was cold and wind was windy. My clothes were heavy and my backpack felt like a small person. And we walked on. Conversations died down as we concentrated on not slipping. Cars whizzed by; people safe in the warmth of the car looking out at the two fools braving the elements. It was a short walk, maybe 2 kms, but it felt like many many miles. The last bit was the worst. The road was open to the sea, there were no buildings shielding us from the wind and the snow was slushy, slippery and scary. Then we were there. One apple later, I feel human again.

And they all said, this morning, "This is nothing, you should have been here in December." Thanks but no thanks.
